personal), getting on with people, exchanging personal information;
talking about hobbies, abilities, likes and dislikes, giving opinions.

WEEK
2: Free time and cultural events
Doing things with words: Making and talking about plans,
making invitations, accepting and refusing invitations, giving
reasons/excuses, taking and leaving messages. Going out, asking
for and giving information, paying.
Structure: Future with “ir”, condicional,
negación
Vocabulary and environment: Places in a city, numerical
expressions, the media (TV, films, plays, radio, magazines, newspapers).
WEEK
3: Going around the city
Doing things with words: Asking about and describing cities,
asking for and giving suggestions. Getting and giving directions,
using a map and public transportation.
Structure: Imperatives, prepositions, adjectives, “podría”,
“Hay..”.
Vocabulary and environment: Places in a city, transportation.
** Project: designing and working on a final class project

4: Memories
Doing things with words: Talking about your childhood
and other memories. Describing situations, objects, places and
people.
Structure: Pretérito imperfecto y pretérito
perfecto simple
Vocabulary and environment: Home, school, outdoor activities,
sports, hobbies.

5: Health problems
Doing things with words: Talking and describing health
problems; going to the doctor, asking for and giving suggestions/advice;
making requests. Following instructions.
Structure: Presente, pretérito y futuro del indicativo.
Imperatives.
Vocabulary and environment: The body, symptoms and injuries,
illnesses and medical conditions
WEEK
6: Food and Cooking
Doing things with words: Talking about food, recipes,
and cooking. Expressing likes and likes; describing a favorite
mail.
Structure: “Gustar”, imperatives/commands,
presente del indicativo, pronouns
Vocabulary and environment: Food, kitchen, market place,
weights and measures
WEEK
7: Studying
Doing things with words: Following and giving a lecture,
talk, presentation or demonstration. Accessing and gathering information.
Structure: Presente, pretérito y futuro del indicativo,
pronouns
Vocabulary and environment: Areas of study (science, health,
business, art, engineering, etc), expressions using numbers (percentages,
proportions, temperature, length, weight, measures, etc.)
